Filtration
Separation of a solid from a liquid using a filter (filter paper, Büchner).
Distillation
Separation by different boiling points. The mixture is heated, the most volatile component's vapor condenses.
Solvent extraction
A water-immiscible solvent is added to extract a solute. The solute migrates to the most favorable solvent.
Chromatography (TLC)
Separation based on affinity for stationary/mobile phases. Rf = solute distance / solvent distance.
